By entering the 2016 SHORTCUTS NMHS FILM FESTIVAL, Awards entrants (‘Entrants’) agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. Failure to abide by these terms and conditions may render an Entrant ineligible for the Awards.
- All entries must be school appropriate. If you are unsure if your film will breach this rule, you MUST run your idea past one of the media teachers or use the contact form below. The SHORTCUTS FILM FESTIVAL reserves the right to disqualify a film if deemed inappropriate.
- Entrants must submit their entries in the following manner:
- Entries must be successfully uploaded in an accepted format, as explained in point 2 (below - and expanded on in the how to guide), and submitted via MOODLE through the appropriate 'assessment task' or USB HAND-IN . Please double-check all files and information for judges before submitting your entry. If we cannot view your submission, we will be unable to judge your production.
- The Entry System works seamlessly through Moodle and most video files should be accepted. However, if you run into any difficulties uploading your footage, please see the how to section of our website or ask a media teacher.
Codec: For best results we recommend using H.264. Your production may be recoded if deemed necessary.
Resolution: High definition (HD) video is required and usually formatted at 720p (1280 × 720 px) or 1080p (1920 × 1080 px).
Audio: The AAC-LC codec, at 320 kbit/s and 48 kHz, is recommended. - To be eligible for the Awards, Entrants must complete the Moodle Entry Form and submit their production as described in points 1 and 2 (above) by the close of entries: 3.15pm ACDT, Friday 4 November 2016. Entrants must also upload a minimum of three (3) still images from their production. We recommend completing your entry submission earlier, to allow for unforeseen issues that may arise.
- The SHORTCUTS FILM FESTIVAL is open to students of Norwood Morialta High School only.
- An Entrant may submit a production into multiple Award categories.
- An Entrant may submit multiple productions into any given Awards category.
- SHORTCUTS reserves the right to re-categorise entries if SHORTCUTS, at its sole discretion, considers that it is appropriate to do so.
- All productions entered into the 2016 SHORTCUTS NMHS FILM FESTIVAL must have been completed between 1st January 2016 and 4 November 2016.
- ALL ENTRANTS:
- Should SHORTCUTS wish to use the production(s) submitted to the FESTIVAL other than as listed in points 9.2, SHORTCUTS will contact the Entrant to negotiate a licence for this use.
- All Entrants retain copyright in the production(s) submitted to the Awards. Entrants grant SHORTCUTS a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, royalty-free licence for five (5) years from the date of entry to:
- Use up to five (5) minutes of the production(s) during Awards presentations and for the purpose of promoting the Festival;
- Reproduce the Entrant’s name and photograph (if supplied) for the purpose of promoting the Festival;
- Reproduce and communicate still images of the production(s) for the promotion and/or publicity of the Festival;
- Publicly screen the production(s) at any event(s) held as part of the Festival, including but not limited to the Awards presentation evening.
- MORAL RIGHTS
- SHORTCUTS will attribute the entrant as the creator of the production wherever it uses the production under the terms of this agreement. SHORTCUTS will attribute the entrant in the following format:
Name of production;
Name of director, producer and/or award recipient. - All entrants acknowledge and consent to SHORTCUTS editing their production(s), but only for the purposes of creating a five-minute excerpt of the production under clauses 8.2.
- SHORTCUTS will attribute the entrant as the creator of the production wherever it uses the production under the terms of this agreement. SHORTCUTS will attribute the entrant in the following format:
- Entrants are solely responsible for ensuring that all necessary copyright and other relevant rights and authorisations for their production(s) have been obtained prior to submitting their entry. If requested by SHORTCUTS, entrants must provide proof of permission for use of any third-party content for which a copyright licence is required. SHORTCUTS takes no responsibility for any failure by an Entrant to obtain the necessary authorisations.
Entrants warrant that their productions (and any material comprising their productions, including, but not limited to, any clip) do not infringe the intellectual property rights or any other rights of any person. Entrants will fully indemnify SHORTCUTS against any loss, costs, expenses, demands or liability, whether direct or indirect, arising out of a claim by a third party or another party. - The SHORTCUTS judges’ decisions are final. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the judging process or any outcomes reached.
SUPERSHORTS: Rules & Regulations
